As 2024 draws to a close, finding reasons for hope and optimism in Gaza remains incredibly challenging. The Israeli genocide in Gaza has claimed the lives of more than 45,000 Palestinians and destroyed over 80% of the Strip’s infrastructure. Hundreds of thousands of Palestinians now live in tents, enduring hunger and poor sanitation.
Like many of our members in Gaza, Douaa Rouqa has been working tirelessly since October 7, 2023, to cover the war and tell the world the truth about what’s happening. She was forced to leave her family in the northern part of the Strip and move south to the town of Khan Younis.
In this video, marking the end of a violent and devastating year, Douaa reflects on her fears and hopes.
We take this opportunity to pay tribute to all our members in Palestine, Sudan, Lebanon, and Syria, who continue their courageous work.
