We are deeply saddened over the passing of our beloved member, Hajar Harb, who died in London after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Hajar Harb started her career in Gaza in 2008, reporting on one Israeli war after another on the Strip. Since joining our network in 2016, she never ceased to amaze us with her fearless journalism and commitment to truth and justice. Whether through her investigative reporting in Gaza or her groundbreaking work from London during the ongoing Israeli genocide in Gaza, Hajar was relentless in her pursuit of the truth and in amplifying the voices of her people.

Even while enduring her illness, Hajar continued her vital work with The Washington Post’s reporting team. She played a key role in documenting major stories, including Israel’s killing of 15 Palestinian emergency workers in Rafah in March 2025, and the attack on Al Ahli Hospital, Gaza’s last functioning hospital at the time.

Over the nine years we were fortunate to know her, Hajar’s resilience and determination deeply moved and inspired us. It is a privilege to call her a colleague and friend. Her memory will remain a guiding light for us and for all who believe in the power of journalism in the face of injustice.

We offer our heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and fellow journalists.
